Leonard Cohen fu anche monaco Zen: ricevette l’ordinazione nel 1996, presso il Mount Baldy Zen Center, a 200 km da Los Angeles, con il nome di Jikan, "Il Silenzio". Lì trascorse alcuni anni, accanto al suo maestro, Sasaki Roshi.
